PLC and SCADA Software for Plant and Process Control

@fnet Projects writes, installs and supports PLC programs and SCADA systems for plants, process lines and industrial facilities in Gauteng, from our base in Midrand. We automate the process, give operators clear screens to run it and collect the data you need to see what is happening.

What PLC and SCADA do

A programmable logic controller (PLC) runs the machine or process: it reads sensors, makes decisions and drives motors, valves and pumps. SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) sits above it, giving operators screens to monitor and control the whole process, with alarms, trends and reports.

Good automation software is readable and documented, so your own technicians can follow it and future changes do not depend on one person. Because @fnet Projects also builds control panels, the hardware and the software can come from one team.

When businesses call us

  • Manual processes

Steps that rely on someone watching a gauge or pressing a button at the right time.

  • No visibility

You only find out about a stoppage or alarm when someone phones.

  • Old or undocumented systems

Programs nobody can follow, or hardware that is no longer supported.

How it works

Four steps. One person accountable.

  1. Step 1

    Assess

We review the process with your team and agree how it should run, including alarms and safety.

  2. Step 2

    Quote

You get a fixed quote for programming, screens, commissioning and training.

  3. Step 3

    Deliver

We program, test and commission the system with your operators, keeping downtime to a minimum.

  4. Step 4

    Support

Remote support and planned changes keep the system current as the process changes.

Questions

Can you change a program someone else wrote?

Yes, provided we can get the program files and access to the PLC. We review the existing code first and document the changes we make.

Can we monitor the plant remotely?

Yes. SCADA can be made securely available to authorised users off site, so you can check status and alarms without being at the plant.

Do you train our operators?

Yes. Training on the screens, alarms and basic fault finding is part of commissioning.
